Bucharest Sep 7th – The Sleepless Nights of the Accordion

Hello UKAO, here an article on the festival in Romania.  

   For the first time in the history of Bucharest and with the great initiative of Emy Dragoï (Rumanian accordionist) a great festival “the sleepless nights of the accordion” proceeded of September 7 in arts centre “ARCUB” of the capital like on September 10 with Ploiesti.    

 The year 2006 is the year of the Francophonie in Romania. In partnership with the embassy of France, the founders of this festival, Emy Dragoï and its association “Acordeon Armony Music” made discover the family of the free sheer on all its facets. For that, they decided to invite artists of France of great quality to share this moment with them. 

In this country, the accordionists are often autodidacts and exceptional. The Balkane music has also its charm filled with nostalgic feelings supplemented by the great swiftness and virtuosity of the musicians playing.  

The festival was opened by the service of the dad of Emy – Ion Bica Dragoi (large self-educated professor in Bucharest) accompanied by its traditional group and with his small son who was cordially acueilli by the public. They chose to interpret a repertory with the memory of the accordionists of Farimita Lambru, Marcel Budala, Ilie Budala etc  Then the trio of David ROLLAND to the diatonic accordion interpreted the music in the style traditionel of Louisiana.  The cousin of Emy also made a service with a group of traditional music of the balkans. 

 In second part was programmed a Recital of Novel JBANOV to the accordion in concert (bayan) with transcriptions of the classical music (Buxtehude, Scarlatti, Moussorgski, Rossini) ansi that original parts of the French type-setter Franck Angelis and Russian – Viacheslav SEMIONOV, Evgenii DERBIENKO and Viktor NOVIKOV.     The following day, the public could discover the French style with the music of variety and the accordion music D Alexandra Paris and its unit.  Roman JBANOV introduced to original piéces Russian type-setters.  and the second part ended in a great Recital of maestro Juan Jose MOSALINI with the bandonion accompanied with the guitar by his/her comrade by Argentina Leonardo SANCHEZ. Their repertory around the tango was made many compositions of Astor Piazzola, but also of the proper compositions of Mosalini and others.     

 The third day Emy Dragoï interpreted in first part of the “ETNO-FONIA SWING” Jazz and swing manouche accompanied by the whole with cords by the national academy by Bucharest, ansi that with the piano – Petrica Andrei, Christophe Lartilleux with the guitar, Albert Gheorghe with the percussions, Kuba with the double bass with the intervention of various Jazz singers: Irina Sarbu, his sor Raluca and Teodora Enache.  The program was very varied.  In second part, the programme moved along speedily with an unforgettable Recital and of very highest quality as Richard Galliano charmed the room with his compositions and his unique musical style.  

   Philarmonic on September 10 with the théatre of Ploiesti, the public discovered the majority of the artists for the final concert.  Almost all this festival was recorded by Rumanian television TVR  (www.tvr.ro)and will be broadcast eventually to the whole world. 

   The goal of this festival was to make known the possibilities and the development of the accordion and its “family”. Emy carries it out with a great artistic and musical quality with the assistance of his/her friends and his family. 

  Perhaps we will return for the 2nd edition of this festival next year…
