 Richard Galliano - Sunday 14th October 20.00 - 22.00hrs
As well as being the greatest jazz accordionist in the world, Richard Galliano is increasingly recognised as a genius improviser whose gifts equal those of Stephane Grappelli and Michel Petrucciani. First learning jazz by attempting to echo, on the accordion, the trumpet and drums of Clifford Brown and Max Roach, and later going on to play with stars such as Ron Carter, Joe Zawinul, Chet Baker, Gary Burton and Jan Garbarek, Galliano has also been influential in helping to revive the sounds of Parisian Musette, as well as continuing the legacy of tango nuevo established by Astor Piazzolla. This special, unamplified solo performance is an unmissable opportunity to see Galliano in his most testing setting. http://tinyurl.com/34olph |

Hi folks
,
Sorry you’ve not heard a peep out of me since the spring. Thought I’d better get a move on and send out a quick catch up.
Thanks to all of you who have signed up to my mailing list over the past few months – here’s your first newsletter....and for those who’ve been with me a while – thanks for hanging in there!
New Album – Too Long Away
After months of me talking about making a new album I am very happy to announce that the recording is now complete. I’ve been juggling touring and recording on and off since the beginning of the year which is why it has taken a fair bit of time to get it done. The album was produced by me and Jamie (McClennan) and although it was a lot of hard work and tiring on the ears - we’re really happy with the result. The material is again a mix of my own songs and traditional material with a few crossovers in there too. I’ve named the album Too Long Away which is a line from one of the songs. For me it sums up how I have felt over the past year since moving back to the area I grew up in and realising that this is where I feel most at home.
Hopefully you’re now feeling as excited about the new album as I am! There’s just one thing – you’re going to have to wait just a few more months (well about 4 to be exact...) until you can get your hands on a copy. I had planned to release the album this year but have now decided to license the album to another label so that I can concentrate more on being a musician and less on running a record label. So, I hope you’ll bear with me for now. There are lots of things going on behind the scenes right now so I should have more details for you next time. |
