The Royal Scottish Country Dance Society, Leeds is holding their annual Musician’s Day for 2015 on 21st February.
It is a great day for getting together for friendship, and Scottish music!
A professional Scottish Musician has been invited to lead the workshop, which takes place during the day, and the lunch provided is super! – (home-made soup, salad, baked potatoes and a choice of meats or fish in previous years.)
The participants are invited to play in the evening for a Dance – in relatively formal style, by members of Leeds RSCDS.
Even if one has only partially mastered the tunes, it is an opportunity to sit there while a professional shows how it should REALLY be done. He is amplified, and carries the whole music, and we, the course members, play as much as we can. It is a good and interesting experience, especially as an introduction to the precise format of a traditional Scottish Dance..
If folk live too far away to get home between afternoon and evening, the social side of the event is continued as a group repairs to a local hostelry for tea. A snack is provided at the interval during the Dance.
The leader this year is Ian Muir, an experienced tutor, soloist and Dance Band Leader.
